Headaches and Fibromyalgia; How Can I Relieve My Headaches
I was looking through your website on fibromyalgia and found it very interesting. I am 24 male who has been recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am finding it very difficult adjusting to this way of life and often find it terrifiing.
I can usually do a 10 minute walk at the most a day. reading your story has fiilled me with hope that maybe one day i can be cured. I have all the symptoms which you have mentioned.
I would say one of my most severe symptoms is my headache it is so painful at its worst i cannot even look at the tv or do anything. is there anything i could do to relieve my headache? i also have a problem with brain fog and was wondering if you could reccomend anything?
In my experience, headache was caused by incredibly tight and shortened neck and scalp and shoulder and upper back muscles, but everything really started in my hips. I don’t know if there is anything you can do to relieve your headache pain immediately, but I do know that when you start finding some length and release in any of your front or back body tissues, you will over time start feeling better.
I don’t get headaches anymore. I do occasionally get a tight or sore neck or shoulder muscle, but it’s isolated so I can tell where it’s coming from and treat that muscle. Headaches, in hindsight, were caused in my body when many muscles, usually neck muscles, came together and cried out together in their pain and tension. That pain was then felt by me as a diffuse pain in my head.
The healthier my muscles and tissues get, the more I find that any pain stays with the muscle that’s creating it, instead of being referred to a nearby area.
- I can suggest the supported childs pose as a wonderfully healing stretch that will start loosening all these muscles slowly, and maybe help your headache. There was a point in my healing when I did that stretch for an hour or more a day for 6 months. That was greatly healing for me.

- I can also suggest you get the book Trigger point therapy workbook by Clair Davies to teach you how to do self-trigger point treatment and start working on your neck muscles. My scalenes and sternocleidomastoids were in incredibly sorry shape and probably caused most of my misery.
- Now, if you have anxiety, fear, anger, or frustration issues, you will definitely need to address those also. I believe that intense negative emotions are actually what causes fibromyalgia. For anxiety, I love the Panic Away book. Here’s my review: http://www.releasefibromyalgia.com/panic-away-review/
Basically what is needed for any of these emotions is to interupt the loop of thoughts that feed the emotion and then focus on something that brings you any positive emotion. It gets easier the more you do it.
Well, you’ve got a lot of work to do, but it’s good work. It will introduce you to yourself in a way that will enhance your life for as long as you live. it’s good that you are getting this figured out early – now you’ll be able to be young even into old age ![]()
My very best wishes, Lisa
