I cured fibromyalgia within my body very deliberately.  I was diagnosed in 2003, and when I started trying to cure it, I was more just trying to find relief.  I had a LOT of pain.  However, once I discovered that what I was doing was WORKING, I ramped up my research and my efforts.  I was willing to try anything.  I have tried dozens of treatments, exercises, different types of exercises, medicines, and herbal treatments.

It took me about 5 years to feel REALLY good, but I think you can do it in half the time or less following my simple, tested exercises.

I believe that fibromyalgia is caused by habits of muscles tension and an overactive nervous system and negative states of being that result in muscles and tissues that are full of stress chemicals and chronically shortened and possibly full of scar tissue and lacking in oxygen.  This is the short, simplified version of my theory. 

A treatment plan that does not address all of these habits, overactivity, and states of being will not be effective in curing fibro the long run, I believe, because even if you can take a medication that blurs your awareness of the body signal of pain, if you still have these states in your body and they will show up in a different way.

So, the key to curing fibromyalgia is to reverse the states that cause it: Develop and follow a practice of relaxation, a practice of loving attention on the body and stretching for the body , regularly breathe deeply, and examine thoughts, beliefs, words, and actions that create tension within you.  This last one is the most effective, and possibly the hardest :)

The only medicine I found that ever had any curative effects on my body was Guaifenesin, which I believe works in Fibromyalgia because of its skeletal muscle relaxant properties.  Take it long enough and your muscles find new states of relaxation, and then your mind can more easily follow.

How much guafenecin should I take daily?2400mg isnt really doing anything afer a month on it…..11 years CFS/Fibromialgia Unable to work for 6 years and really need to get well go back to work to better provide for my three sons I ‘ve raised alone. The “brain fog” doesn’t help when strategizing how to make it financially for my family and me. Lost and isolated as I shut off from friends and acquaintences while being so sick for so long. Just making it through the motions of parenthood responsibilies from one day to the next.
    the kids thrive because I make sure of it. I remain in bed when I am not carting them from one activity to the next or doing minimal household duties or communications.

  2. Hi Annemarie, if i recall correctly, I think I took 2400. I know Dr St Amand does not recommend any bodywork or stretching or anything other than guai but I strongly disagree with that. Besides guai, I did stretching, self trigger point massage, and worked very strongly on my mental health and getting happy. So these are things you might want to look into too.

    There is a group that you can become a part of that is sanctioned by Dr. St Amand I believe. They can help you with dosing questions
