The Truth about Fibromyalgia Syndrome

July 15, 2010 by Lisa

As I read through the top 10 results for the search “fibromyalgia syndrome” on my favorite search engine, I must say that I am DISTRESSED to find NOTHING there that is any help to ANYONE with fibromyalgia.

Quite frankly, all the pages that I am seeing right now say a whole bunch of nothing except “we don’t know what causes fibromyalgia syndrome” and “we don’t know what to do for fibromyalgia syndrome” and “we can’t even agree on what fibromyalgia really is!” AARGGH!

Where is Dr. Lamb’s page? And Dr. St Amand’s info? These are the doctors that are really helping people feel better!

Ok, so I’ll tell you what I have learned what fibromyalgia is:

Fibromyalgia Syndrome is a body state where most tissues in the body is stuffed full of metabolic wastes and stress chemicals and scar tissue and trigger points. There is decreased circulation and kinked and constricted fascia because of this state. This drecreased circulation and kinked and constricted fascia leads to pain.

(fascia is the covering of every muscle, muscle fiber, nerve, organ, tendon, and ligament in the body)

There are many causes of this state – stress and the stress chemicals that are released during stress, fear, anger, anxiousness, frustration, bitterness, resentment, blame, despair, and worry is just one.

Another cause of this state is injury to the fascia that never healed.

Another cause is poor body mechanics over time, plus extreme repetetive stress injuries.

Another cause is an extremely hyperactive nervous system (probably caused by prolonged periods of worry or fear or anxiousness) which exhausts the adrenals and fills the tissues full of trigger points and stress chemicals.

There are plenty of more causes. Fibromyalgia syndrome is not a cut and dry disease where one thing, like a virus, causes the same symptoms in everyone.

That’s why nobody in the medical profession knows what causes fibro – because you could take 100 women with fibromyalgia and ask them the same questions and get 100 different answers. Our current medical system is not willing to accept any answers unless it can by ‘clinically proven’ – and that’s why everyone with fibro is walking around without any answers.

But that’s OK. Because YOU can help yourself. Because YOU have found some answers here. :)

No matter what, anything I recommend will never make you worse (unless it’s the kind of ‘feel worse while you are getting better’ worse – sometimes that happens.

So, read my post about the two things you must do to Treat Fibromyalgia effectively, and maybe get my book, and sign up for my list. Fibro is all we talk about here.
