Take Valerian Root to Get More Sleep; Fibromyalgia-Busting Tip
Valerian Root is my hands down favorite herbal mehtod to get more sleep. It smells bad but if you take it in capsule form you can minimize that. I don’t take this anymore ever, but I used to take it a lot, every night before bed. It worked almost as well as a prescription muscle relaxant to help me fall asleep, and especially, to STAY asleep.
My husband, who does not have fibromyalgia, also takes it when he is on odd schedules and can’t convince his body that it is time to go to sleep.
Get Valerian Root at any health food store. It is not expensive. I never experienced any side effects and it was not addictive in any way. Take it when you need it and leave it when you don’t. It is also fast-acting. I used to take it only an hour or two before I would want to sleep.
The valerian root creates a definite drowsy state in me that made falling asleep effortless and even if I had to get up to use the bathroom or something I could fall back asleep easily. In the morning, it never made me feel hungover or drowsy or like I took a sleeping pill. Good stuff!
